Vox (lead): Nick Whitecross
Vox (backing): Jon Hall
Vox: Both of them harmonizing
Assisted with Simon's stagebook.
Michael walks out
Michael walks out in a sailor suit
With his hand held high in a sad salute
Been out to sea
With his fighting friends
And they want to know
When the world might end
Don't cry for Michael
Don't cry for him
Michael sails away to another war
And he doesn't care, he wants to fight some more
So he's out to sea with his fighting friends
And they want to know when the world might end
Don't cry for Michael
Don't cry for him
All the bells are ringing in his tiny head
Please say so
Please say so if you're Michael
All the bells are ringing in his tiny head
Please say so
Please say so if you're Michael
And no one cares
Whether you live or die
And it' a cruel world
That makes a man break down
And weep
La la la~
Note: I actually don't know for sure if that's Jon singing in the "bells" part, but it's
certainly not Nick! But Jon sings other parts on this song, and well, who else could it be?
There are also backing vocals from some unknown women, (and maybe even uncredited men at the end of the first verse) presumably the
same ones that are credited on the main CTAL album.
The stage book version writes another "bells" part after the "la la las", but that's not in the studio version.
