Underage

See notes for more details (1982)

Vox (lead): Sylvia Griffin

Vox (backing): Nick Whitecross, Jon Hall and Peter Barnett

I touch your face and it felt like no other
I touch your face for a night and a day
We went away now you are lonely
We went away you're on your own

(Underage)

Walking out you were looking for no one
A distant shout at the end of the day
We talked of times when you were lonely
Whispered words, you're underaged

(Underage)
You're underage
(Underage)
You're underage
(Underage)
You're underage

Walking out you were looking for no one
A distant shout at the end of the day
We talked of times when you were lonely
Whispered words, you're underaged

(Underage)
You're underage
(Underage)
You're underage
(Underage)
You're underage

(Underage)

I touch your face and it felt like no other
I touch your face for a night and a day
I touch your face and it felt like no other
I touch your face for a night and a day
I touch your face and it felt like no other
I touch your face for a night and a day
I touch your face and it felt like no other
I touch your face for a night and a day
(You're underage)
I touch your face and it felt like no other
I touch your face for a night and a day
(Underage, underage)
I touch your face and it felt like no other
I touch your face for a night and a day...

Notes

This song was initially recorded during Naked sessions circa 1982. Jon Hall claims that an older version of Underage having a ridiculous recording is part of what made Sylvia leave the band.

The song eventually did release as the B-side of Love Lasts Forever, but as an instrumental (1983), that version does include the coda of the boys singing, and instead of fading out it ends with the line "I touch you" followed by some panting.

When this song was performed live, Jon sang lead. Both that fact and the linked post a few sentences ago imply that Jon wrote most of the song.

Despite that, the lyric colors above pertain to the unreleased studio version with Sylvia singing, because the live versions switch a few lyrics around and they're clearly all based on this version anyway.

There is also a much slower version of a genre I can't place but the lyrics are the same.
